5th Grade Curriculum Project
For our fifth grade curriculum we made a five week course that encompassed the general aspects of the periodic table. We did two labs a week and a lesson or video to follow up on each lab. We used an extensive vocabulary and lab sheets to aid in our lesson. The vocabulary sheet was derived from an online source but was majorly tweaked by our group to fit our learning plans and child needs. We started off creating the project from a survey we gave children from the school that we were presenting our projects too. Then, using the information we gathered, we created a curriculum based around what they didn't know and what we leaned on (what they know). After creating the curriculum we created the labs you see below, along with the vocabulary sheet and our presentation.
Reflection:
I thought this project was interesting because we had no physical materials to work with. the entire project was straight out of our minds and into the curriculum. It helped me learn a lot more about teaching children school subject and helped me understand more about the concepts our group taught as well. I thoroughly enjoyed it but our group did not work as well as hoped. Inside the project guidelines we we fine, but on the outside half of our group resented the other half. Luckily this did not make our project a problem to work on and I had a very pleasant time.
